He interrogated Derick
And when he didn't get the answers he sought, he forbade him from stepping into his house or ever looking in Michele's dirction again.
And when he wasn't interrogating people, he was thinking about interrogating people. What happened at the wedding began to consume him more than the actual vows that were exchanged. He became more isolated and removed from his family.
Michele waited. Perhaps he'll get the evidence he was looking for and put Lorraine in jail. Or maybe his obsession would pass and he'll be the loving, caring man he was before they were married. And then Michele's birthday came. And went. Jerome did not notice or seem to care. For the first time in her life, Michele was overcome with sadness.

Why does it hurt so much? |

Surely I am over-reacting. |
There was one way she knew how to deal with this velvet blue sadness and that was The Blue Velvet. Surely her happiness was at the bottom of a glass of a Sea Breeze.

Oh yay, the Grim Reaper. Exactly the kind of company I'm in the mood for. |
Death, however, did not have time for her. And if she had not had 3 Sea Breezes, she would have realized that that was a good thing. Jerchele was far too young to be The Torch Bearer surrounded by idiots. Nope, not dying tonight. But she will belly up to the bar.

"Hey barkeep, let me buy that drink for the lady." |
"You're gonna buy me drinks? Why, you're a nice man! Thankee. Why dontcha siddon?" At last, Michele thought, somebody who cares. "You're a nice man! I said that already didn't I? Well, you are. You got a nice hair and a nice mustache and a nice. . . oh my God!"

Is that a scarf worn like. . . an ASCOT!!! |
"Sure, miss. Let me help yo. . ."
"Stand back you ascotted demon!"
The next thing Michele remembered she was running for the door. She had to find the passage back to the life she had before. She also had to stop listening to old Eagles albums. But mostly she had to go back home.
Michele ran into Jerome on his way out the door. He wasn't on his way to work. He was again on his mission. She stopped him.
You've been in a bad way,Jerome.
and I've got to admit that I must take most of the blame.
Because I've never told you the truth. The real truth. I've been afraid.
But the truth is. The real truth is. . . I love you. Please, drop this vigilante craziness come back to me.
There was one thing. One thing that was always right between them.
Mom? Dad? Are you wrestling?
"I told you I was almost 100% sure he was your kid!"
I swear I see a Bachelorette Challenge spin-off with Michelle as the Bachelorette and all the potential bachelors wearing scarfs as ascots.
